Cheers to Encouragement
We've started our summer camps this week and while most of the kids are students of RMA there are a few who are in our dojo for the first time and doing anything physical including karate for the very first time ever.
During camp we work on basics and kata while also having many fun games between all the work. Sometimes a child, especially someone new to the dojo, will be nervous even reluctant to try something new in a group.
Free time is when the kids can bond freely, have fun playing while meeting the other campers and build up their confidence.
Watching our students in camp has made me a very proud Sensei. The RMA students cheered on and shouted words of encouragement to the new campers who, for some of them, were having some difficulty playing our jumping game. Our RMA students cheered loudly and clapped excitedly for the new kids who gave their best.
The RMA kids looked beyond the disability of one student, the shyness of the others and were so welcoming and encouraging. I have no doubt our RMA students will be fine young adults one day!
Thank you to our students for being so awesome!

SMART GIRL CLASSES STARTING
After great success with group seminars, RMA Karate Centres
is expanding their SMART GIRL program to include regular weekly classes.
The program developed by world karate champion Tressa Young is designed to help
boost the self-esteem and self-confidence of young girls through
kickboxing, self-defense instruction and positive image exercises.
“This program gives girls a positive female role model to
work with. I along with the help of my female students engage the girls
through fun kickboxing and self-defense lessons while also weaving discussions
through positive image exercise to improve self-esteem and body image.
This program is unique having all of these factors giving the girls the chance
to talk about school-related pressures and more”, third degree black belt Tressa Young
said.
The classes starts July 7th running every Tuesday
and will be FREE for the month of July, To register your child for the
Smart Girl program call 705-796-1994 or email info@rmakarate.com .

skills and results.
Black belt Sale Berube won one gold and four bronze medals
in the 12 and under divisions. Brown belt Shamus Berube won one gold and
two silver medals in the Men’s 35 years and over divisions.
Brown belt Sam Stubbs won one silver and two bronze medals
in the boys’ 11/12 years division. Purple belt Jacob Allen won two silver
medals and was a finalist in the boys’ 13/14 years division. Purple Belt
Wesley Wu gave a strong performance in the boys’ 9/10 years division finishing
as a finalist in his divisions.
Blue belt Alyson Caron gave her best performance yet in the
girls’ 9/10 divisions winning two gold medals and a finalist placement.
Caron went on to compete in the grand champion divisions for her gold medal
